4604. Eldred Helen¹⁰ BATES (Viola May⁹ BARTON, Charles Henry⁸, Samuel Pierce⁷, Gideon⁶, Stephen⁵, Edmund⁴, Samuel³, Matthew², Edward¹) was born in Beckworth, Plumas, CA 18 August 1915. Eldred died 9 September 1981 in Dos Palos, Merced, CA, at 66 years of age.

She married James Haldane DAVIS 26 June 1937 in Reno, Washoe, NV. James was born 11 February 1916 in Adin, Modoc, CA. James was the son of James Francis DAVIS and Vesta DIBBLE. James died 5 August 1964 in Cedarville, Modoc, CA, at 48 years of age. A WW II veteran he enlisted in spite of a physical handicap. He regreted that this handicap forced a medical discharge before the end of the war. "Hal"s dedicated interest in young people, family pride and valient struggle to live was noted in the obituary published in the Modoc County Record of Alturas, CA on 13 August 1964.
