1615. Asa⁸ BARTON (Aaron Stow⁷, Asa⁶, John⁵, Caleb⁴, Samuel³, Matthew², Edward¹) was born in Bethel, Oxford, ME 12 October 1793. Asa died 1 February 1848 in Norway, Oxford, ME, at 54 years of age. His body was interred in Norway, Oxford, ME.

He married Lydia CHASE. Lydia was born 8 November 1795 in Martha's Vinyard, MA. Lydia was the daughter of Thomas CHASE. Lydia died 1872 in Minneapolis, Hennepin, MN, at 76 years of age. Asa owned the Oxford County Bookstore in Paris and established a press called "The Oxford Observer in 1824. He relocated the paper in the dead of night to Norway in 1826.

Asa sold the paper in 1833 to George Millett of Norway and Octavius King of Paris who set up shop in Paris and called the paper the Oxford Democrat.

Asa BARTON and Lydia CHASE had the following children:

+ 3080 ii. Asa Bowers BARTON was born 9 April 1821.

3081 iii. Marion Concordia BARTON was born in Paris, Oxford, ME 3 JUN 1823. Marion died 12 January 1828 at 4 years of age.

3082 iv. Malvina Libertas BARTON was born in Paris, Oxford, ME 6 MAY 1825. Malvina died 4 August 1857 in Somerville, Middlesex, MA, at 32 years of age.⁽¹⁴⁹⁷⁾

3083 v. Marion Concordia BARTON was born in Norway, Oxford, ME 9 December 1829. Marion died April 1858 at 28 years of age. She married Robert TILLSON 25 September 1851. Robert was born abt 1820.

+ 3084 vi. George L. D. BARTON was born 1 January 1830.

3085 vii. Henrietta C. BARTON was born 17 April 1832. Henrietta died 18 July 1902 at 70 years of age.

3086 viii. Emery L. BARTON was born 18 June 1835. Emery died 8 October 1836 in Bangor, Penobscot, ME, at 1 year of age.
