He married twice. He married Mary Ann PIKE 03 October 1839 in Newport, Sullivan, NH.⁽¹²³⁴⁾ Mary died 16 March 1840 in Newport, Sullivan, NH. He married Elizabeth F. JEWETT August 25, 1852 in Nashua, Hillsborough, NH.⁽¹²³⁵⁾ Elizabeth was born August 25, 1829 in Hollis, NH. Elizabeth was the daughter of Capt. Nathaniel JEWETT and Mary DAVIS. Elizabeth died May 19, 1912 in Newport, Sullivan, NH, at 82 years of age.⁽¹²³⁶⁾ Her body was interred May 22, 1912 in Newport, Sullivan, NH.⁽¹²³⁷⁾ Elizabeth was listed as the head of a family on the 1910 Census in Newport, Sullivan, NH. Levi had a sparce education until he was 18 when he attended Kimball Union Academy and graduated from Dartmouth in 1848. He read law and taught until he was admitted to the bar in 1851. He probably streached the truth a bit on the 1850 census when he claimed he was a lawyer. Levi was active in politics serving in the county government, General Court, State Senate, was a member of the Constitutional Convention in 1876 and was a member of the electoral college in the same year.

2281 i. Ira McL.⁹ BARTON was born in Newport, Sullivan, NH March 11, 1840. Ira died January 19, 1876 in Newport, Sullivan, NH, at 35 years of age. He married twice. He married Helen M. WILCOX 1861. He married Addie Lydia BARTON 13 July 1868 in Ludlow, Windsor, VT.⁽¹²³⁸⁾ Addie was born 1841 in Ludlow, Windsor, VT. Addie was the daughter of Rufus N. BARTON and Almira BATES. Addie died After 6 June 1900 at approximately 58 years of age. Addie is living in Ludlow VT as a lodger in the 1900 census. She is recorded in the 1890 veteran's census as recieving Ira's pension.

Ira was employed. Ira was listed as the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Ludlow, Windsor, VT. Ira attended Kimball Union Academny and Dartmouth College (which he left before graduation.) He took up the study of law in his father's office and was admitted to practice in 1863. He was the first Sullivan County man to enlist at the outbreak of the Civil War and at the age of 21 raised a company of volunteers and was appointed its Captain. He rose to the ranks of Colonel during the war and accepted a commission as Lieutenant afterwards when he was stationed in Arkansas. He resigned and was appointed district attorney for the Arkansas 10th district and later a Jefferson County Judge. He then became a partner in a newpaper and ran for governor of the state. Upon losing the campaign, Ira left the state and returned to Newport where he died little more than a year later.

2285 v. Leander M. BARTON was born in Newport, Sullivan, NH March 28, 1862. Leander died September 26, 1863 at 1 year of age.

2286 vi. Florence Frances BARTON was born in Newport, Sullivan, NH April 8, 1865. She was listed as a resident in the census report 1920 in Newport, Sullivan, NH.

2287 vii. Natt Lincoln BARTON was born in Newport, Sullivan, NH August 28, 1867. Natt died February 24, 1905 in Pittsfield, Merrimack, NH, at 37 years of age. He married Annie M. BALLANN April 14, 1891 in Newport, Sullivan, NH.⁽¹²⁴⁰⁾ Annie was born August 1869 in England.

Natt was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census in Brookhaven, Suffolk, NY. Natt was a railroad conductor. In the 1900 census they recorded no children.
