414. Charles A.⁷ BARTON (Charles⁶, Josiah⁵, Ebenezer⁴, Ebenezer³, William², Edward¹) was born in Pittsfield, NH March 1, 1814. Charles died 10 September 1897 in Hopkinton, Merrimack, NH, at 83 years of age.⁽⁴⁸⁶⁾ His body was interred in Hopkinton, Merrimack, NH.⁽⁴⁸⁷⁾

He married Phebe STRAW April 4, 1833 in Hopkinton, Merrimack, NH. Phebe was born circa 1808 in NH. Phebe was the daughter of Joseph STRAW and Elizabeth GARDNER. Phebe died December 7, 1892 in Hopkinton, Merrimack, NH, at 84 years of age.⁽⁴⁸⁸⁾

In the Census of Charles was listed as a head of household in Hopkinton, Merrimack, NH. Charles was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Hopkinton, Merrimack, NH. The following individual is also linked to this event: Phebe STRAW (wife). When he was a young boy Charles signed on board a whaling ship for several years. He was a farmer by trade and his wife Phoebe was a tailoress, making mens clothing.

They are also recorded in the Henniker 1850 census some 20 days before Hopkinton with a Hiram Straw who may have been a relation to Phebe. Hiram is described in the Henniker sheets as an idiot pauper.
