106. Reuben⁵ BARTON (Joshua⁴, Samuel³, Matthew², Edward¹)⁽¹³⁹⁾ was born in Leicester, Worcester, MA March 28, 1738/1739.⁽¹⁴⁰⁾ Reuben died December 22, 1819 in Belchertown, Hampshire, MA, at 81 years of age.

He married Katherine LEARNED June 29, 1761 in Oxford, Worcester, MA. Katherine was born February 18, 1733/1734 in Oxford, Worcester, MA. Katherine was the daughter of Josiah LEARNED and Catherine RICE. Katherine died April 21, 1822 in Belchertown, Hampshire, MA, at 89 years of age. Katherine was a member of Congregational Church in Belchertown, Hampshire, MA 4 August 1776. He lived in Spencer, Oxford and Belchertown. He was noted for his strength and bravery during his service in the French and Indian War and Revolutionary War.

Historical Sketches of the Congregational Church in Belchertown by Mark Doolittle, published in 1852 mentions children William, Sarah, Josiah, Daniel, Lucy and Reuben.

Reuben BARTON and Katherine LEARNED had the following children:

258 i. William⁶ BARTON was born in Charlton, Worcester, MA August 26, 1762.⁽¹⁴¹⁾ William died 18 September 1780 in Belchertown, Hampshire, MA, at 18 years of age. He was baptized 25 August 1776 in Belchertown, Hampshire, MA. William died of a leg infection.

259 ii. Sarah BARTON was born in Belchertown, Hampshire, MA March 22, 1764. She married Joel RICE 10 April 1788 in Belchertown, Hampshire, MA.⁽¹⁴²⁾

She was baptized 25 August 1776 in Belchertown, Hampshire, MA.

+ 260 iii. Josiah BARTON was born April 2, 1766.

+ 261 iv. Daniel BARTON was born July 21, 1768.

262 v. Lucy BARTON was born in Belchertown, Hampshire, MA March 9, 1770. She was baptized 25 August 1776 in Belchertown, Hampshire, MA.

+ 263 vi. Reuben BARTON was born January 17, 1772.
