55. Elisha (Elijah)⁴ BARTON (Samuel³, Matthew², Edward¹) was born in Framingham, Middlesex, MA April 22, 1701.⁽⁴⁷⁾ Elisha died October 15, 1776 in Granby, Hampshire, MA, at 75 years of age.

He married Betty WAITE February 3, 1732/1733 in Sutton, Worcester, MA.⁽⁴⁸⁾ Betty was born August 31, 1714 in Sherborn, Middlesex, MA. Betty was the daughter of William WAITE and Abdal TOMBLIN. Betty died February 1, 1806 in Granby, Hampshire, MA, at 91 years of age. He received from his father a tract of land on Prospect Hill; and he bought lands in that part of Sutton which is now Millbury and in that part of South Hadley which is now Granby. He lived in all three places.

Elisha (Elijah) BARTON and Betty WAITE had the following children:

+ 107 i. Ezekiel⁵ BARTON was born August 19, 1732.

+ 108 ii. Elisha BARTON was born June 5, 1734.

109 iii. Mehitable BARTON was born in Sutton, Worcester, MA October 8, 1736.⁽⁴⁹⁾ She married Jonothan SELDON Jr.

+ 110 iv. David BARTON was born 6 February 1739.

111 v. Gershom BARTON was born in Sutton, Worcester, MA December 6, 1742.⁽⁵⁰⁾ Gershom served in the revolution from South Hadley

112 vi. Betty BARTON was born in Sutton, Worcester, MA March 31, 1745/1746.⁽⁵¹⁾

113 vii. Sarah BARTON was born in Sutton, Worcester, MA March 21, 1746/1747.⁽⁵²⁾

114 viii. Rebecca BARTON was born in Sutton, Worcester, MA December 1, 1748.⁽⁵³⁾
