692. David7 BARTON (Caleb6, John5, Caleb4, Samuel3, Matthew2, Edward1)(828) was born in Leicester, Worcester, MA 1782. David died August 15, 1839 in Montpelier, Washington, VT, at 57 years of age.

He married Anna DODGE December 5, 1805 in Montpelier, Washington, VT.(829) Anna was born 1786 in Peterborough, Hillsborough, NH.(830) Anna was the daughter of Solomon DODGE and Mary TAGGART. Anna died 27 June 1872 in Moretown, Washington, VT, at 85 years of age. Her body was interred in Montpelier, Washington, VT.(831) Anna was listed as a household member living with Irene BARTON in the 1860 Census in East Montpelier, Washington, VT. The following individuals are also linked to this event: Aaron W. PIERCE (household member); Julia A. PIERCE (household member). The marriage record for David and Anna calles her Anna Alls.

In the 1850 and 1860 census Ann was residing with daughter Irene on a farm near that of brother Samuel.

Ann, in the 1870 census,is living with daughter Fanny in Moretown. In the census she says she was born in NH. The death card in the VT VR for her son calls her Anna Dodge and also says she was born in Peterborough. The Dodge family genealogy says Anna Dodge married David Barton.

David's parents represent the weakest link in the chain back to Edward. On page 345 in the "Historical Sketches of Leicester" Caleb's sons are listed and include David. His death was recorded in the Columbian Centinal and he was listed as "of Leicester." No record has been found of his birth and he is not included in any Worcester county wills. He seems to be counted in the 1790 census with brother Caleb Junior as one of two males under the age of 16 in the household.

David may have emigrated from Leicester to Montpelier with his uncle Samuel Upham who is recorded as one of the first landholders of the town. The earliest census record is from 1830. There are several Uphams buried nearby David and Ann. Son David in the 1900 census says his father was born in Mass. and mother in VT. David was a corporal in the Montpelier Co. during the war of 1812.
